SHAMPOO
1. Brush (not comb) out tangles prior to washing
2. Wet Hair - Use warm water, helps open the cuticle (outside layer of hair)
and aids in removal of dirt and oil.
3. Apply Shampoo - Apply
evenly to scalp only. Use gentle downward strokes with fingertips
4. Rinse
- With warm water using fingertips while rinsing to lift hair away
from scalp.
CONDITION
1. Squeeze out excess water
2. Use a quarter size amount
3. Rub hands together
4. Apply to midshaft and ends, stay away from the scalp. Scalp hair is brand
new and should not be your focus.
5. Use vent brush or fingertips to detangle hair, working from the ends towards
the scalp. Leave on 2-5 minutes. For deep conditioning, use a shower cap
and leave on for 10 minutes.
RINSE
Use lukewarm or ideally COOL water to close the cuticle and add shine to
your hair. Cool water will also lock in moisture and discourage your hair
from secreting too much oil.
COMB
OUT
1. Twist hair up in a towel in order to remove excess water. Leave towel
on hair for a few minutes.
2. Take care not to rub your hair dry with towel. Friction from towel will
make the hair brittle and weak. Instead blot moisture out of hair with towel.
3. Brush out tangles by using a vent or paddle brush. To detangle hair
start at the ends and work towards the scalp. Do not use a comb or bristle
brush. They pull and tug, creating broken and split ends.
4. Once detangled, fluff hair out with fingers.

BLOW
DRYING TIPS
Work smarter, not harder. Let hair air dry so it is not too wet or still
dripping.
Remove remaining moisture by moving the blow dryer constantly around the
head. Protect the outer layer from drying too fast by bending your head
upside down or leaning to the side. Stop when hair is still slightly moist.
Always use an air concentrator (triangle attachment for the end of blow dryer
nozzle) to direct the heat when using a paddle or round brush. For smoothing
and styling the hair, proper direction of blow dryer is key. The air flow
from the dryer needs to be directed down the hair shaft from the roots to
the ends. To achieve this, elevate the nozzle of the blow dryer above your
head. Lean your head to the side to make it easier on the arms.
It is best to divide hair into manageable sections, 2-4 inches wide. Start
approximately 1 inch above ear and take a diagonal section from front hair
line to nape. Clip the rest of the hair out of the way. Dry this section
by pulling it straight out from the head. Continue working up the head shape.
Stop when you get to the top and complete the other side. The top section
should be lifted away from the scalp and either blow dried forward, back
or to the side.

Curly hair Tips
Curly hair is dry by nature.Your locks love moisture.Shampooing more than twice a week will add to frizz and dryness. Also hot water is very drying to the hair,so please get in the habit of using warm water to wet your hair. Hair is weakest when wet,so no rubbing or scrubbing. When applying product always work down the hair shaft. This will help keep the cuticle closed and prevent dull, dry, brittle hair.
1. CLEANSE THE SCALP
Wet hair throughly. For best results, apply conditioner to mid shaft and ends first, gently comb thru any tangles with your fingers. Without rinsing, apply shampoo to scalp area only. Massage with finger tips 1-2 minutes. Rinse. Reapply a small amount of shampoo to scalp concentrating on the hair root to promote nourishment and hair growth. Rinse completely.
2. CONDITION
While hair is soaking wet, apply conditioner from ends to root,in scrunching/cupping motion. Leave in 3-5 minutes.
For severely dehydrated hair, leave some in.
3.DETANGLE/APPLY STYLING TOOLS
While still in shower and hair is dripping wet, lean forward and shake your curls from side to side releasing them from the scalp thus allowing the curls or waves to take their shape.Apply a generous amount of styling product to palms, rub hands together. While still leaning forward, apply from ends to roots in a scrunching/cupping motion. When layering products, always use leave in conditioner first. Still leaning forward, use a paper towel or old cotton T-shirt,scrunching upwards towards the scalp and blot out excess moisture. Do not rub hair together or use your towel this will create friction enhancing frizz. Exit shower, use single prong clips throughout the crown area in a perpendicular manner, for added height and curl separation.
4. DRYING
Allow hair to air dry or use a diffuser.Never touch hair while drying. When hair is completely dry, gently remove clips and break the gel cast by leaning to the side and softly cupping hair from ends to root. To add separation to curls, loosen hair underneath with fingertips by gently shaking the hair at scalp
5. REFRESH YOUR CURLS
Wet hands with water and scrunch hair to reactivate product and curl. A spray on leave in conditioner works well too.

Curl Maintenance
Maintaining luscious curls is no easy task. Varying climates, temperatures, activities, etc. can all affect the appearance…curly hair is temperamental. A regular hair care regime, proper upkeep, and the right products are a must.
Tips:
Never use a brush or comb on your dry curls
Trim hair at least every 3 months to prevent spares and dehydrated end
Avoid products that contain mineral and/or petrolatum oil as an ingredient. Do not use products with these ingredients for your curly hair or scalp. Both of these synthetic oils coat and suffocate the hair shaft blocking moisture out. Further, they clog pores in your scalp and can retard hair growth. Read your labels. Remember, the ingredients are listed in order of volume.
For kinky, curly hair that tends to "get big" or "poof" when let down, shampoo, condition, rinse, add styling products, separate into 4-8 sections, smooth hair and edges with your brush and braid each section, allow the hair to air dry. Once dry (will take several hours – best time to do so is early evening until the next morning) remove braids...refresh with a little pomade and go! This is a wonderful approach for controlling your curls while you sleep. On non shampoo days, use a light mist of water or spray on conditioner to help detangle curls before braiding.
